Man arrested at Harry Reid Airport after alleged text threat to hijack United jet
Air traffic control audio and flight tracking information show the emergency unfolded about 13 minutes after the plane departed Las Vegas. Dante Milne, 25, was arrested at Harry Reid International Airport after an alleged threat to hijack a United Flight 1681 bound for New Jersey. The emergency occurred about 13 minutes after the plane departed Las Vegas, when pilots switched to a different transponder to signal an in-flight emergency. The flight attendant alerted the cockpit after seeing a passenger texting someone that he was planning to hijacking the plane. The crew did not confront the passenger during the flight, according to aviation expert Reed Yadon. The plane returned to Las Vegas without incident and was too heavy to land immediately as it had not burned off enough fuel. A Travis County judge has ordered a temporary restraining order to allow Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's office to allow his Democratic challenger, state Rep. Gina, to stand trial.
