Refreshed Razer Blade 18 Gaming Laptop With Thunderbolt 5 Now on Sale
Starting at $3,099, this powerhouse PC is not cheap, particularly if you swing for the version with a 4K panel featuring a 200Hz refresh rate. Razer is selling its refreshed gaming laptop, the Razer Blade 18, on Razer.com for $3,099. The PC is packed with cutting-edge features, including Intel’s new 14th generation i9-14900HX processor and the first laptop with Thunderbolt 5. The company has upgraded its 4K IPS display from a 4K 165Hz panel to a 200Hz refresh rate, a first, and has added a mini-LED screen with an even higher refresh rate of 300Hz across a 2,560-by-1,600 resolution. The Thunderbolt 5 connectivity on a single USB-C port can transfer data transfer speeds at up to 120Gbps and power up to three 4K external monitors at 144Hz each. However, the Thunderbolt 5 port will only be available on models with Nvidia's RTX 4080 or RTX 2050, which will not be compatible with the RTX 4070-equipped model. The Blade 18 also supports Wi-Fi 7 and larger speaker drivers, and a privacy shutter for the 5-megapixel web camera.

After showing off its refreshed Blade 18 at CES, Razer is now selling the gaming laptop on Razer.com starting at $3,099.
Although the price is high, Razer says the PC is packed with cutting-edge features, including Intel’s new 14th generation i9-14900HX processor. It's also the first laptop with Thunderbolt 5.
Razer gave us an early look at the 18-inch laptop in Las Vegas, but at the time, it was outfitted with a 4K 165Hz panel. The company has since upgraded the 4K IPS display, which has a 3,840-by-2,400-pixel resolution, to a 200Hz refresh rate, which Razer says is also a first.
Buyers will have to wait until the summer to get that 4K configuration, though. Instead, the laptop launches with a mini-LED screen that features an even higher refresh rate of 300Hz across a 2,560-by-1,600 resolution.
The other standout feature is Thunderbolt 5 connectivity on a single USB-C port on the right side of the laptop. But through it, the user can reap data transfer speeds at up to 120Gbps. The same Thunderbolt 5 port can also power up to three 4K external monitors at 144Hz each.
The catch is that the Thunderbolt 5 port will only be available on Razer Blade 18 models configured with Nvidia’s RTX 4080 or RTX 4090 laptop GPUs. The RTX 4070-equipped model nixes Thunderbolt 5.
To further refresh the product, the Blade 18 runs Intel’s i9-14900HX for top-of-the-line performance, along with the ability to overclock the CPU. In addition, the laptop now supports Wi-Fi 7, has larger speaker drivers, and a privacy shutter for the 5-megapixel web camera.
Outside of that, the company hasn’t changed much of the look or feel to the Blade 18, which retains the aluminum chassis and vapor cooling chamber inside. Like last year’s model , the refreshed Blade 18 offers easy access to the RAM and storage for easy upgradability. Stay tuned for our review.
