Las Vegas Valley to see scattered showers today as storm arrives

Southern Nevada should start feeling the effects of the storm after sunrise, when there is a 70 percent chance of rain, the National Weather Service said. Southern Nevada is expected to see scattered showers today, less than two weeks after the remnants of Tropical Storm Rachel dumped record-setting rainfall on the Las Vegas Valley. The National Weather Service predicts that the valley will receive less than a quarter-inch of rain from a Pacific Ocean storm, coming from the Pacific Ocean. The storm is expected after sunrise, with a 70 percent chance of rain predicted, but the chances decrease to 50 percent by the afternoon, with skies expected to clear by evening. The Las Vegas airport has recorded 1.19 inches of rain this month compared to the October average of 0.32 inches. The wettest October ever was in 2005, when 1.45 inches fell.
