Bally’s Chairman Soo Kim has confirmed that the iconic Tropicana Las Vegas could be demolished in October. The casino is closing on April 2, with employees offered positions for locations off and around the Strip. This gives Bally's plenty of time to prepare for the redevelopment and construction. Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred is confident that the Oakland Athletics will be playing in Las Vegas starting in 2028.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - FOX5 is learning more about the timeline of events leading to the opening of a new A’s stadium on the Las Vegas Strip.

Bally’s Chairman Soo Kim, via correspondence on X, told FOX5′s Jaclyn Schultz that the iconic Tropicana Las Vegas could be demolished in October.

”Think October for the main event,” said Ballys Chair Soo Kim via DM on X.

In a previous message on timing, the Ballys Chair told FOX5, ”Our team felt that this was the right time, post the peak season, to prepare to close the Trop. It’s been in the works for some time. This gives plenty of time to ready the place for the redevelopment and the start of construction.”

The Tropicana is closing on April 2 to the public. According to Bally’s executives, employees have been offered positions for locations on and off the Strip.

The casino’s marquees have been honoring employees.

Bally’s officials told FOX5 that the gaming floor will close on April 2. Food and beverage departments are shutting down by noon.

Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred is confident the Oakland Athletics will be playing in Las Vegas starting in 2028.
