How Las Vegas families can make Halloween safer for neurodivergent children
A Las Vegas nonprofit shares Halloween safety tips and inclusive activities to help neurodivergent children and families enjoy the holiday safely. A Las Vegas nonprofit, the Family Insider Foundation, has shared tips to help families make Halloween safer and more inclusive for neurodivergent children who may be sensitive to crowds, noise, bright lights, and changes in routine. Kimberley McGee, founder of the foundation, recommends using the buddy system and reflective tape on children's clothing to help drivers see them. She also suggests different-colored pumpkin buckets during Halloween, which are sometimes associated with autism. The foundation is promoting a Mighty Moguls event at Chicken N Pickle on Oct. 28, where children can enjoy Halloween activities and receive candy. For families looking for alternatives to traditional trick-or-treating, McGee created the Treats and Streets map to help find Halloween activities in their area.
