The Las Vegas airport, known as Harry Reid International Airport (LAS), has completed a $71 million upgrade to its baggage handling system. The three-year project was completed on time and within budget, covering both of the airport's main terminals. The improvements are designed to help bags move more smoothly through the airport, reduce congestion near baggage claim, and make travel easier for passengers. The project focused on the airport’s Baggage Handling System, often called the BHS, which moves checked luggage from airplanes to passengers. At Terminal 1, crews upgraded eight baggage carousels and completely replaced eight others, while at Terminal 3, the airport modernized the computer hardware and software that controls the baggage system. Funding was largely funded through federal grants, including funding connected to the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
