Locals react to Cowabunga Bay's Henderson water park closure announcement

Company leaders say they're consolidating operations at Cowabunga Canyon near Summerlin, where existing 2027 season passes will be honored After 12 years of summer fun, Cowabunga Bay in Henderson, Nevada, will not reopen in 2027, ending a summer tradition for families who spent years at the water park. The decision was made after five years of operating both Las Vegas-area water parks under one brand. The company decided to consolidate its efforts at Cowababungi Canyon near Summerlin, which will remain open and existing 2027 season passes will be honored at that location. Over 70% of Cowabenga Bay's staff will move to Cowabanga Canyon, which has 21 year-round employees and about 500 seasonal workers. Park leaders believe consolidating operations will allow the company to focus future investments and attractions at Cowabeunga Canyon. However, for Henderson families, this means a longer drive to continue their summer tradition.
