England v Australia rugby league: What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas
England face Australia at the Women's Rugby League World Cup on Saturday determined to show they have moved on from the nightmare of their last meeting in Las Vegas 19 months ago. England's women's rugby league team lost a record 90-4 to Australia in Las Vegas, marking a significant loss for the team. The match was supposed to be the first in a three-match Test series between England and Australia in 2025, marking the start of a regular Women's Ashes competition between the two teams. However, the defeat highlighted the gulf between Australia's Jillaroos and England, who scored 17 tries. The result led many to believe the game in the northern hemisphere had reached a new low, with England's World Cup prospects almost dismissed. However this has led to a significant shift in England head coach Stuart Barrow's thinking, with the current squad featuring only six of the team from the defeat.
