Walmart earns recognition in Las Vegas for choosing to save honey bees.
Just another WordPress site Walmart has been recognized in Las Vegas for its decision to relocate honey bee colonies alive instead of removing them by other methods. Vegas Bees, a local live bee removal company, removed two hives from Walmart properties this week and relocated them to a managed apiary where they continue to forage and produce honey. The company has been doing this for a few years, using a beekeeper to remove the colony alive, which reduces safety concerns and keeps the bees in the local population. The decision matters beyond the two hows, as each colony is relocated rather than lost to contribute to local pollination and the honey bee population.
