Rock star Stevie Van Zandt visits Las Vegas Rock Academy during tour stop

VanZandt served as a teacher in a class teaching "History of Rock and Roll" at the Delta Academy, a program run by TeachRock, which provides resources for teachers, students, and families. The visit was part of Van Zandert's organization, TeachRock. Dr. Jay Caballero, chief rock officer for the Rock Academy, said TeachRock has been an incredible resource for the school and its music education is inspiring students to continue their passion for music performance.

Actor and rock icon Stevie Van Zandt took some time to meet with some future music stars while in Las Vegas last week.
Van Zandt visit Las Vegas' Rock Academy of the Performing Arts at the Delta Academy while he was in town with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
He stopped by a class that was teaching "History of Rock and Roll" and served as teacher for the day, according to a spokesperson.
The program comes through TeachRock, an organization launched by Van Zandt that provides resources to help teachers, students and families.
"Whenever I visit a school using our curriculum, the first thing I’m always struck by is the enthusiasm of the teachers and students," Van Zandt said in a statement. "I don't remember anything like that during my school years. It’s wonderful seeing how the teachers’ creativity comes to life as they adapt each lesson plan in their own unique way, while achieving the necessary lesson outcomes."
Dr. Jay Caballero, chief rock officer for the Rock Academy of Performing Arts, or RAPA, said TeachRock has been an incredible resource.
"It is truly an honor to have legendary musician Stevie Van Zandt visit our school and see how music education is inspiring so many of our students to continue with their passion for music performance and production," Caballero said.
