What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas for England
England face Australia at the Women's Rugby League World Cup on Saturday determined to show they have moved on from the nightmare of their last meeting in Las Vegas 19 months ago. England women's rugby league team is set to face Australia for the first time since a 90-4 loss in Las Vegas in March 2025. The match was supposed to be the first in a three-match Test series between the two teams, but England lost by a record 90-0 at the Allegiant Stadium in Nevada. The loss was seen as a sobering reminder of the gulf between Australia and England, who had previously won the previous three World Cups. However, England head coach Stuart Barrow said the loss has led to a significant shift in England's thinking, with a youthful and dynamic squad featuring only six of the team from the previous encounter. The absence of the Sydney Roosters second-row forward, Jasmin Strange, will be felt by England's squad as they face Australia, who have only lost one since 2016.
