Passenger Faces Felony Terrorism Charges After Alleged Mid-Air Hijack Threats Divert United Flight to Las Vegas - Nevada Globe

LAS VEGAS, NV — A 25-year-old traveler accused of triggering a high-level airborne security emergency by sending electronic messages threatening to hijack Dante Milne, a 25-year-old man accused of threatening to hijack a Newark-bound passenger jet, faces a felony charge of making a threat or conveying false information concerning an act of terrorism under Nevada Revised Statutes. The charge stems from an in-flight crisis aboard United Airlines Flight 1681. The Boeing 737 departed from Harry Reid International Airport with 150 passengers and six crew members en route to Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey when a flight attendant noticed Milne sending threatening text messages on his mobile device. The flight attendant alerted the flight deck and the captain declared an airborne emergency. Following the flight landing, officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Airport Bureau boarded the plane and took Milne into custody without resistance. The court established conditions of release after Milne posted a $10,000 bond, requiring him to remain under pre-trial monitoring and refrain from entering airport property or boarding commercial aircraft without prior judicial authorization.
